Vitesse awaits Supreme Court ruling while licence already secured

🇳🇱

Vitesse Arnhem will learn on 17 July whether the Dutch Supreme Court upholds the KNVB’s challenge to the court of appeal’s suspension of its professional licence, a decision that arrives as the club prepares for the new season after a recent regulatory vote secured its licence.

The Hoge Raad is set to deliver its ruling on 17 July in the cassation procedure launched by the KNVB. The dispute stems from the court of appeal’s decision last year to suspend the revocation of Vitesse’s professional licence, which allowed the Arnhem club to continue competing. That suspension was the catalyst for the current legal battle.

The KNVB did not accept the appeal court’s ruling and escalated the case to the Hoge Raad. According to De , the advocate‑general had already advised that the appeal court’s judgment be left in place. Consequently, the Arnhemmers are expected to meet the forthcoming decision with confidence.

The pending judgment will not alter Vitesse’s situation for the coming season. Clubs in Dutch professional football recently approved a regulation change that preserves each club’s licence for the new campaign. As a result, Vitesse’s licence for the upcoming season remains secured regardless of the court’s verdict.

Should the Hoge Raad side with the KNVB, any repercussions would only affect the season after next. The decision would therefore shape Vitesse’s future beyond the immediate campaign. Meanwhile, fans can follow the latest episode for updates on Ronaldo, Yamal, Modric, Reiziger and Slot.
