Real Madrid denies Fernandez transfer as agent touts Madrid ties

🇪🇸

While Real Madrid publicly deny any transfer plans for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, his agent Javier Pastore insists the Argentine is still weighing options and enjoys strong personal ties in Madrid. Real Madrid released an official statement after reports of interest, and Chelsea's recent failure to qualify for Europe has fueled speculation.

Real Madrid are actively searching for a new midfielder, and Enzo Fernandez has emerged as one of the most prominent links. The club had previously attempted to sign him in 2023 when he was still at Benfica, but the move did not materialise.

Fernandez, 25, is currently a key figure for Chelsea, a side that failed to secure any European qualification in the 2025-26 campaign. The lack of continental football has led many to assume his departure is imminent.

Speaking to earlier this week, Javier Pastore said: “Today the player is calmly thinking about the National Team, he is playing in a World Cup, he is very close to going through to the round of 16… He is thinking only about that and we are looking at possibilities to leave Chelsea. He has many friends (in Madrid), and he is very good friends with Julián Álvarez, and in the end all the time they can spend together they are together there. And I’m also living in Madrid. Every time he travelled, he travelled to see me and to fix work things, but aside: who doesn’t like Madrid? I didn’t play in Madrid… I even live there.”

Pastor added that Fernandez frequently travels to Madrid to meet him and to sort out personal matters, underscoring his comfort with the city. He also highlighted that the player’s social circle in Madrid includes several close friends, reinforcing the personal appeal of a move.

Real Madrid later issued an official statement confirming that no transfer for the Chelsea man has been made, nor is any plan in place. The club’s denial comes after media reports suggested a possible deal for the midfielder.

Despite the denial, reports indicate that Fernandez remains keen on continuing his career at the Bernabeu. The next chapter will likely involve speculation over which player will ultimately join José Mourinho’s squad.
