Brobbey enjoyed a strong first season at Sunderland, where he scored regularly and earned a call‑up to the World Cup squad. At the World Cup he found the net twice against Sweden and once against Tunisia, but could not stop the Netherlands from being knocked out by Morocco in the round of 32.

At that price Sunderland would secure more than €15 million in profit, having originally bought Brobbey from Ajax for €20 million in the summer of 2025.
