Pro League Drops Quota, RSCA Futures Face Relegation

🇧🇪

The Belgian Pro League has eliminated the promotion/relegation quota for reserve sides in the second tier. From the 2024-25 season RSCA Futures, Club NXT, Jong Genk and Jong Gent will be allowed to drop into amateur competition if they finish in the relegation zone.

The quota had previously barred those four development squads from being demoted regardless of their league position. Its removal aligns the second division with the standard relegation rules applied to all other clubs.

The move was widely anticipated by clubs and analysts. No other changes to the Pro League structure were announced alongside the policy shift.

The four youth-focused teams now face the prospect of competing at the amateur level should their performance merit it. Their future in the professional pyramid will depend on on-field results rather than administrative protection.
