Daley Blind’s Ajax return unlikely, says father Danny

🇳🇱

Daley Blind’s father, Danny Blind, has dismissed speculation that his son could return to Ajax this summer. Speaking on SBS6’s *Het Oranje Café*, the former Ajax and Netherlands defender said he saw no path for a reunion.

"Goddamn, I don’t know," Danny Blind responded when asked whether his 36-year-old son would make a summer move back to Ajax. Daley Blind’s contract with Girona expires at the end of June, leaving him transfer-free.

The discussion on *Het Oranje Café* lasted only briefly, but Danny Blind’s final comment carried weight. When pressed again by presenter Sam van Rooyen, he stated plainly: "It seems unlikely to me."

Daley Blind has already spent two separate spells at Ajax, accumulating 333 appearances. In those matches, he scored 13 goals and provided 21 assists. He left Amsterdam for the second time at the start of 2023, joining Bayern München before moving on to Girona.

At Girona, Daley Blind worked under Míchel, who has since been appointed as Ajax’s new head coach. The connection raised questions about a potential reunion, but Danny Blind’s remarks suggest that door is closed.

The 36-year-old defender’s contract situation adds urgency to his next move. As a free agent after June, he will have options—but Ajax do not appear to be among them, based on his father’s comments.

Danny Blind himself is a club legend at Ajax, having played 347 matches across two spells. His perspective carries significant weight in any discussion about his son’s future.

For Daley Blind, the next step remains uncertain. With no clear club linked and his father unconvinced about an Ajax return, the window for a move is narrowing as the transfer window approaches.
