Barça sign Juan Ybarra: a two-year deal for the reserve team midfielder

🇪🇸

FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Juan Ybarra from CD Tenerife, with the Spanish player joining the club’s reserve side, Barça Atletic.

The move comes shortly after Barcelona secured Joni Hernandez from Tenerife, reinforcing the Catalans’ strategy of bolstering their second tier squad. Ybarra has signed a two-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2028.

“FC Barcelona and CD Tenerife have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Juan Ybarra,” the club’s official statement confirmed. “The midfielder signs a contract with the Club until June 30, 2028 and will strengthen Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atletic midfield.”

Barça Atletic have undergone significant squad changes, with several players departing permanently or on loan following their unsuccessful bid for promotion from the RFEF Segunda Division last season. The reserve team’s reshuffle has created space for new additions like Ybarra.

The 22-year-old arrived at Tenerife from Rayo Vallecano’s youth system this past season and quickly established himself as a key attacking threat. He scored 13 goals and provided nine assists for the Canary Islands club’s reserve team, demonstrating his creative and goal-scoring qualities.

Ybarra also made his first-team debut for Tenerife in April of this year, adding top-flight experience to his profile. Barcelona will now look to integrate him into Juliano Belletti’s setup as the club eyes promotion back to the RFEF Primera Division.
