Adam Tahaui leaves Vitesse for NEC in four-year deal

🇳🇱
NEC have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Adam Tahaui from city rivals Vitesse. The 20-year-old joins De Goffert on a four-year contract running until the summer of 2030. The move addresses a clear need in NEC’s squad following the departure of key creative outlets. Tahaui arrives with Eredivisie experience under his belt, having made his professional debut with Vitesse last season. Vitesse nurtured Tahaui through their youth system, signing him from FC Utrecht’s academy in 2020. His development culminated in a breakthrough campaign in which he featured in 37 Eerste Divisie matches, contributing five goals and ten assists. The transfer negotiations were conducted discreetly due to the heated rivalry between the two Arnhem clubs. Word of the impending move leaked only last week, prompting Tahaui—on advice from the Arnhem club—to skip a scheduled friendly against Roda JC Kerkrade. Technical director Carlos Aalbers framed the acquisition as a strategic coup. “Adam is a player we have followed for a long time and see a lot of potential in,” Aalbers said. “He is creative, technically gifted and can play in multiple midfield and attacking roles. That makes him a very interesting and versatile addition to the squad.” Aalbers also highlighted Tahaui’s adaptability as a key asset for NEC’s tactical plans. The new arrival will provide competition and depth across the attacking third. NEC now turn their attention to integrating Tahaui into the first-team setup ahead of the new campaign. His arrival signals the club’s intent to strengthen their creative spine before the transfer window closes. The Arnhem club will look to build on this signing with further reinforcements in the coming weeks.
