Boston United's summer push lands goal‑scoring defender George Ward
Boston United have signed Buxton defender George Ward on an initial two‑year deal, the 24‑year‑old bringing a record of 39 National League North appearances and six goals from defence last season.
Ward signed an initial two‑year contract with Boston United. The 24‑year‑old defender brings experience from the National League North.
He began his senior career at Barwell in Leicestershire. He later played for Leamington, also at National League North level.
Ward made 39 league appearances for Buxton last season. He was a regular feature in their defence.
He contributed six goals from defence during that campaign. Buxton reached the play‑offs but were eliminated by South Shields.
Ward is the Pilgrims' fifth new signing of the summer. He joins fellow arrivals Gavan Holohan, Nicholas Pozo, Kai Mauro and Terrell Agyemang.
His addition bolsters Boston United's defensive options. The club gains a player accustomed to the National League North's demands.
