Renato Marin's loan to CD Nacional reveals PSG's long‑term goal

Nineteen‑year‑old goalkeeper Renato Marin, who arrived at Paris Saint‑Germain from AS Roma last summer, is set for a season‑long loan to CD Nacional in Portugal’s top division, a move confirmed by Le Parisien after PSG decided to send the third‑choice keeper abroad.

He joined PSG last summer to become the third‑choice goalkeeper. The pecking order places Lucas Chevalier, who also arrived from Lille OSC, and Matvey Safonov ahead of him.

Despite his backup status, Marin featured in three matches across all competitions for the European champions. Those appearances gave him limited exposure at the highest level.

Manager Luis Enrique has praised Marin and regards him as a prospect for the future. Nevertheless, immediate first‑team opportunities remain scarce.

PSG decided earlier in the summer that a loan would be the best route for his development. The loan will see him join CD Nacional, who finished 14th in the Portuguese top flight last season.

The agreement is a straightforward season‑long loan. No purchase option is included in the deal.

The information comes from a report by Le Parisien. The article was authored by GFFN contributor Luke Entwistle.
