Darmstadt's speed gamble: Ibrahim El Kadiri joins from De Graafschap

Ibrahim El Kadiri, the 24‑year‑old winger, has left De Graafschap to join German 2. Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98, with the club unveiling his arrival through official channels after two seasons in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. He signs a contract that ends his previous deal with the Dutch side.

El Kadiri had a contract with De Graafschap until mid‑2027 but opted for a new adventure in Germany. The 24‑year‑old winger departs Doetinchem after two years with the club.

During his two seasons, he featured in 67 matches, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists.

Sporting director Paul Fernie praised El Kadiri, saying, "Ibrahim possesses enormous speed and is a player who likes one‑on‑one duels with defenders. He is characterized by a good mix and versatility in his dribbles and he is also very hardworking." Fernie added that reaching an agreement with De Graafschap made the winger a welcome addition to the Darmstadt family.

El Kadiri expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "From the very first contact I was enthusiastic about the chance to play for Darmstadt in the 2. Bundesliga. I am now even more delighted that I can take this step and look forward to the club, the fans and the atmosphere in the Böllenfalltor stadium." He described the move as an adventure he has been eager to embark on.

Darmstadt finished fifth in the 2. Bundesliga last season, aiming to build on that position. Adding a pace‑driven winger aligns with their intent to diversify attacking options.

Through De Graafschap's channels, El Kadiri thanked the club, coaches, staff and supporters for their unconditional support and passion. He said he will never forget the moments shared with the fans.

Darmstadt also secured the services of Nicolas Verkooijen from Jong PSV, further strengthening their squad depth.
