Paris Saint-Germain snatch Akliouche As Liverpool turn to Diomande

Paris Saint-Germain have secured the signature of AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, ending Liverpool’s pursuit of the French international. The move, reported by Foot Mercato, gives the French giants an edge in the race for the player after Kang‑in Lee’s transfer to Atletico Madrid. Liverpool had been credited with interest in Akliouche as they look to bolster their attacking options. The Reds view the 23‑year‑old as a potential solution to a lack of depth up front. The club have already completed a deal for Spanish forward Victor Munoz and have turned their attention to RB Leipzig teenage sensation Yan Diomande. Liverpool’s initial €100 million offer for the Ivorian was rejected, but an improved bid is expected. Diomande was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Season last term and has carried his club form onto the international stage, starring for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup. The 19‑year‑old is the only player this century to record at least 10 dribbles and create at least 10 chances across his first three FIFA World Cup games. Jamie Carragher told : “You think of the success Liverpool have had in the past with powerful, quick, wide men. You think of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, especially those two. “He certainly looks like he’s got those type of traits. That’s a big thing that Liverpool lacked last season – pace in those wide areas.” He added that the youngster’s profile matches the club’s historic reliance on fast, wide men. If Liverpool miss out on the Ivory Coast international, they are considering a move for Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh. Paris Saint-Germain also have Bradley Barcola, Lille’s Mathias Fernandez‑Pardo and Köln’s Said El Mala on their radar, underscoring the breadth of their recruitment plans.
