Prosecutor orders fan bans, suspensions after Standard‑Charleroi clash

🇧🇪

The Belgian football federation's prosecutor issued a request on Sunday regarding the violent Standard Liège‑Charleroi derby. The request calls for sanctions against both clubs and several Charleroi players.

Standard Liège would be required to play three home matches behind closed doors. Charleroi would face four home matches without spectators.

Charleroi midfielder Keita is slated for a three‑match suspension. Teammate Scheidler also faces a three‑match ban. Forward Koné is proposed to miss four matches.

The disciplinary move follows a derby that escalated into crowd trouble and player provocations. Officials described the incident as out of hand.

Both clubs must prepare for upcoming fixtures without home fans while they consider possible appeals. The prosecutor's proposal will be reviewed by the disciplinary committee next week.
