PSG’s Champions League win boosts national pride study finds

🇫🇷

A study by CSA, revealed by Ouest-France, shows 65% of French people felt satisfaction after Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League victory. Among football fans, that figure rises to 81%. The survey also found 61% experienced joy and 55% felt pride.

The PSG triumph resonated across France, not just in Île-de-France. Only 35% of respondents were indifferent to the club’s achievement. The study contrasts PSG’s success with Marseille’s 1990s European Cup Winners’ Cup win and Saint-Étienne’s 1970s European Cup runs.

PSG’s victory places the club at the top of France’s football pantheon, according to the survey. Fans from all regions participated, with 1,000 respondents aged 18 and over. The data was collected within a week of the final.

Ouest-France highlights the national reach of PSG’s success. The study underscores how the club’s win united French football supporters beyond geographical divides. PSG’s global profile and recent dominance were cited as key factors in the widespread positive response.

PSG now prepares for the new season with an expanded squad. Kylian Mbappé remains the focal point of the team’s ambitions. The club’s next Champions League campaign begins in September.
