De Vrij swaps Inter for Panathinaikos, reuniting with Vilhena
Stefan de Vrij, the 34‑year‑old Dutch centre‑back, has terminated his eight‑year spell at Internazionale to sign a one‑season contract with Greek giants Panathinaikos. The move follows his forced absence from the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico because of injury.
De Vrij is a 79‑cap international for the Netherlands. He spent eight years at Internazionale, where he collected three Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana wins.
Known as “De Muur”, he previously spent four seasons with Lazio. At Inter he recorded 296 appearances and scored 13 goals.
