Ajax's title push lands veteran Caio Henrique until 2030

🇳🇱

Ajax have completed the signing of 28‑year‑old Brazilian defender Caio Henrique from AS Monaco, with the player committing to a contract that runs until the summer of 2030. The deal was confirmed today after all parties – AS Monaco, Ajax and Henrique – reached an agreement on the transfer.

Henrique expressed his delight at joining Amsterdam and posted on Ajax’s club channels that he is pleased with the welcome. He said, “En ik ben blij met mijn ontvangst. Ik ben vooral benieuwd naar het project. Jordi (Cruijff, red.) heeft me heel duidelijk gemaakt dat het doel is om titels te winnen. Ik wil kampioen worden van Nederland, zo simpel is het.”

Henrique began his football education in the youth ranks of Santos before making his professional debut in 2016 with Atlético Madrid. Atlético Madrid subsequently loaned him to Brazilian sides Paraná, Fluminense and Grêmio.

Four years after his debut, Henrique transferred to AS Monaco, where he amassed more than two hundred competitive appearances. His tenure in Ligue 1 added significant top‑level experience to his résumé.

Jordi Cruijff praised the acquisition, noting that Ajax had worked for a long time to secure Henrique’s arrival. He highlighted the defender’s experience and leadership, describing him as a valuable addition who can start immediately.

The signing bolsters Ajax’s squad as they pursue domestic titles, providing the team with seasoned defensive leadership. For Henrique, the move offers a clear pathway to achieve his ambition of becoming Dutch champion.
