Millwall's €6m bid pits Mechelen's rebuild against a record deal
After the Champions' Play‑offs, KRC Mechelen (Malines) faces a rebuilding phase and urgently needs cash to fund a squad overhaul. English club Millwall is reportedly ready to pay €6 million for 21‑year‑old Mathis Servais, a former Club Brugge youth, to secure his services.
Malines must sell its best players at the right price to finance a squad overhaul. The club's financial situation has drawn attention from foreign teams.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Millwall is closely monitoring Servais. Millwall is actively negotiating with Malines over a €6 million fee.
If completed, the deal would set a transfer record for the English side. Servais would sign a five‑year contract and must give his answer.
Acceptance would provide Malines with a substantial sum to launch its market activity. The club hopes the influx will enable a strong recruitment drive.
Servais, 21, was developed at Club Brugge and later played for Beveren. Transfermarkt lists his market value at €4 million, meaning Millwall's offer exceeds it.
