Ajax women's squad bolsters attack with Katja Snoeijs signing
Ajax's women's team have secured the services of Katja Snoeijs from Everton, signing the 29‑year‑old Dutch international on a contract that runs until mid‑2029. The move follows interest from French clubs and comes as the striker publicly disclosed her battle with endometriosis.
The transfer was announced without a disclosed fee, confirming Snoeijs will join the Amsterdam side for the 2024‑25 season. Ajax also confirmed the signing of midfielder Nadine Noordam, also until mid‑2029, after her stint with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ajax pursued Snoeijs to add a technical forward with proven scoring ability to their squad. Her 38 caps for the Netherlands demonstrate experience at the highest level, which the club values for mentoring younger talent.
Technical manager Dolf Roks said, “We are delighted that Katja joins our squad; she is a technical player with a lot of scoring ability.” He added that her experience on the international stage will help guide the club’s younger players.
Snoeijs previously played for Telstar, VV Alkmaar, PSV and Girondins de Bordeaux before moving to Everton in 2022. Her career includes 38 international appearances for the Dutch national team.
For Ajax, the signings of Snoeijs and Noordam signal a commitment to blend experience with youth ahead of upcoming domestic campaigns. For Snoeijs, the move offers a fresh environment to continue her career while managing her health condition.
