Last‑minute signing fuels Sabadell’s second‑division push

American striker Nicholas Gioacchini joins SabadellSABADELL just hours before his LaLiga Hypermotion debut, while the club prepares for its first match against Sporting Gijón, highlighting a stark contrast between the player’s globe‑trotting résumé and Sabadell’s rapid rise to the Segunda División.

Gioacchini’s contract and debut

El club announced that Nicholas Gioacchini, a 26‑year‑old Davanter centre, has signed a deal running until 2028. The forward will be available for Sabadell’s opening fixture against Sporting Gijón in LaLiga Hypermotion. His arrival follows a brief trial period that ended on Monday.

Sabadell’s squad overhaul

Gioacchini’s career spans the Primera Divisió de Grècia with Asteras Aktor, the MLS, and Italy’s Serie B, as well as stints at Paris, Caen and Montpellier in France. He has also featured in the Estats Units, playing for Orlando, Saint Louis City and Cincinnati, and is known locally as “Gio”.

In the MLS he recorded ten goals in 46 matches, added six goals in French Ligue 2, and earned eight caps for the United States between 2020 and 2021, scoring three international goals. The player’s résumé underscores a blend of experience across three continents.

The Sabadell communiqué described him as “un delantero con gol y mucha calidad”, promising “experiencia internacional” and a spark of “pólvora”. The club’s official welcome read “Benvingut, Gio! Units🫶🏻”.

SabadellSABADELL confirmed this as its twelfth signing of the season after a historic double promotion. The incoming cohort also includes defenders José Luis Catalá, Miki Codina, Edgar González, Pipa and Óscar Sanz, midfielder Pere Pons, and attackers Xavi Moreno, Nikolay Obolskii, Yanis Rahmani, Alain Ribeiro and Gastón Valles.

Having secured back‑to‑back promotions, Sabadell now faces Sporting Gijón with a reinforced roster. The club hopes the new arrivals, especially Gioacchini, will translate their varied experience into immediate impact in the Segunda División.

The juxtaposition of Gioacchini’s international journey and Sabadell’s rapid ascent illustrates how a single signing can embody both ambition and adaptation as the team embarks on its new chapter.
