Bubista quits Cape Verde to steer Moroccan side RS Berkane

Trainer Bubista has announced he will leave the Kap Verde national team to become the new club coach of RS Berkane in Marokko, after guiding his side to the Sechzehntelfinale of the WM. The 56‑Jährige coach confirmed the move in a statement released on the day of the announcement.

Born Pedro Brito, the former Kap‑Verde‑Trainer has been the Auswahl of the afrikanischen Inselstaats since the 2022 cycle. Mit Kap Verde he earned a reputation for punching above the nation’s size, and his departure marks the end of a notable tenure with the Nationalteam.

During the recent Weltmeisterschaft held across the USA, Mexiko and Kanada, Sein Team surprised the Fußballwelt by remaining unbeaten in the group stage. The side secured a 0‑0 draw against the later Weltmeister Spanien and added further stalemates against Uruguay and Saudi‑Arabien, enough to reach the Sechzehntelfinale.

In the round of 16, Kap Verde faced Argentina, challenging Lionel Messi’s side before eventually bowing out 2‑3 after extra time. The narrow defeat ended a historic debut campaign that will be remembered for its resilience and tactical discipline.

Bubista now takes over as Vereinscoach of the Moroccan Verein RS Berkane, succeeding Moïne Chaabani, who was appointed the new Nationaltrainer of Tunesien. The club expects the experienced coach to bring his World Cup pedigree to the domestic and continental competitions.

RS Berkane, a prominent club in Marokko, announced the appointment on its official channels, highlighting Bubista’s proven ability to develop under‑dog squads. The move is seen as a strategic effort to boost the team’s performance in upcoming fixtures.

Bubista’s next challenge will be to translate his World Cup experience into success for RS Berkane, as the club prepares for the remainder of the season and potential continental campaigns.
