Barcelona rules out signing Juventus defender

🇮🇹 7 June 2026

Barcelona are targeting several players this summer, including Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.

Reports had suggested Barcelona were eyeing Juventus full-back Daniele Rugani. The Catalan club has dismissed those claims outright.

Club president Joan Laporta confirmed Barcelona’s focus remains on securing a new striker. Alvarez remains the primary target amid ongoing negotiations.

Barcelona’s summer transfer plans include multiple positions, but defensive reinforcements are not currently a priority. The club’s hierarchy is prioritizing attacking upgrades.

Rugani, 30, has been with Juventus since 2019 and has two years left on his contract. His contract status has not deterred Barcelona from pursuing other options.

Laporta emphasized the need for a top-class forward to address Barcelona’s attacking needs. The club’s transfer strategy remains fluid but centered on attacking talent.
