Barcelona's race to secure a sale before the June 30 deadline

FC Barcelona are working to finalise a player departure before the June 30 financial deadline, hoping the transaction will be recorded in the current accounting year. Ansu Fati’s €11 million move to AS Monaco is the most likely sale to provide the needed boost.

The club aims to secure at least one significant exit before the deadline to strengthen its financial position ahead of the close of the current accounting year. Executives say additional revenue would improve an already positive outlook and give greater flexibility for the summer transfer window.

Monaco activated the €11 million purchase option included in last summer’s loan for Ansu Fati. Negotiations are now focused on the player’s personal terms and a four‑year contract, with only minor details remaining before the transfer is officially announced. Barcelona are optimistic the deal will be finalised in time for the fee to be recorded this financial year.

Fati’s departure would also remove one of Barcelona’s highest salaries from the wage bill, creating additional room within La Liga’s Fair Play regulations for future signings. In parallel, Barcelona are advancing a season‑long loan for Marc‑Andre ter Stegen to Ajax, where the Dutch side is expected to cover a significant portion of the goalkeeper’s salary, more than Girona offered last season.

The club has already secured several pieces of transfer income this summer. Iñaki Peña completed a permanent move to Panathinaikos for approximately €3 million, Barcelona will receive just over €1 million in training compensation from Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Real Madrid, and Sergi Altimira’s move to Sporting CP is expected to generate around €400 000.

Other potential exits, such as Roony Bardghji and Marc Casado, continue to attract interest but are unlikely to be completed before June 30. If an agreement is substantially completed before the end of June, accounting regulations may still allow the transaction to be recorded in the current financial year even if paperwork is signed later.

For now, Ansu Fati remains the player most likely to provide Barcelona with the financial boost the club would welcome before closing its books for the season. The club will monitor the deadline closely as negotiations progress.
